Welcome to the early Spring issue of the AK eNews!
We are happy to report that the Amazing Kids! eZine #7 is now online and ready to read. This issue is a special Celebration of Writing! This issue includes some book reviews (one for toddlers and kindergarteners, and one for ages 10-14), poems and stories, written by kids and teens just like you! So, all of you budding young writers, be sure to check it out!
Some of you may already be submitting your writing for the eZine, but if you aren't, we welcome your submissions! Be sure to email our eZine editor, 16 year old Nathalie Alonso, to tell her you are interested in writing for the eZine! Her email is: amazingkidseditor@hotmail.com.
This month's Amazing Kid! of the Month is a talented 14 year old teenage girl from Defiance, Ohio, named Austin-Nichole Zachrich. Austin-Nichole is an aspiring television talk show producer and performer who produces and hosts her own teen television talk show! Read all about this amazing young lady at: http://www.amazing-kids.org/akom3-03.htm#top

Congratulations to Austin-Nicole, our newest mentee, and a big thank you to Nicole Marostica, her new mentor! Nicole is a publicist for Showtime.
Austin-Nicole writes about her experiences so far with Nicole:
"This is so great! I am so excited for the great things Amazing Kids! has already done for me!! I love my mentor, Nicole. She is smart and funny. Anytime I write her she writes me back these wonderful long letters with so much great information and stories in them. I just sent her pics of me and a tape of my show. I cannot thank you enough!!!!!!!

"Story Starter" Short Story Contest is Now Over

Our Plush Toy Design Contest (see below) is going to be announced on a 60 second segment called "In Play Today!" that airs every hour. The spot will feature some boys and girls from the Boys and Girls Club of Harbor City, California, designing their plush toys for the contest. The spot will also air on Nickelodeon at least once that day, but we do not know at what time.
Needless to say, we're very excited and thrilled to be on Nickelodeon! So be sure to turn your channels and VCRs to Nickelodeon's Games and Sports on March 19 and catch our tv debut...
Congratulations to DJ Sconyers, last month's Amazing Kid! of the Month. Since appearing on the Amazing Kids! website, DJ's amazing story has been featured in several newspapers, including the Palm Beach Post, the Palm Beach Observer and their hometown Newport Rhode Island newspaper. Home-schooled by his amazing (and we mean, amazing!) mother, the latest ePALS e-newsletter featured his mom and his project and a link to our Amazing Kids! of the Month story about him, under a section called "ePALS Teacher Spotlight."
DJ is expanding his "USA-Lithuania Friendship Project" and will soon hold an auction to raise money to send computers to his new friends in rural Lithuania! Way to go, DJ! Keep up the great work! We are proud of you!
Wow! Amazing Kids! sure has been getting a lot of attention these past couple of months! In addition to our appearance on Nickelodeon on the 19th of March, articles about Amazing Kids! have appeared in several magazines and newspapers, including online versions of some publications.
In February, we were featured in Disney's Family Fun magazine, as a place for budding young writers to enter writing contests and get their writing published in the AK eZine. In March, our Plush Toy Design Contest is in YM magazine (www.ym.com/diary/dosomething/feb2803.jsp) under "Do Something." The contest is also featured in March/April issue of the official Ty Beanie Baby magazine, Mary Beth's Beanies & More, and in Incentive and Promo magazines.
Finally, our February Amazing Kid! of the Month story about DJ Sconyers (see above) is featured in several publications, including the ePALS e-newsletter and page 6 of the Palm Beach Post and in the Palm Beach Observer newspapers.
If you see an article about Amazing Kids! in your local paper or a magazine you read, please be sure to let us know about it! Send us an email at: info@amazing-kids.org. Thank you!
