Moxy
Maxwell Does Not Like Stewart Little
by Peggy Gifford
Book review by Anni
Moxy Maxwell is a smart 9 year-old
girl who is supposed to read Stewart Little over the summer to get
ready for her 4th grade class. But the problem is she has spent
the entire summer not reading it. Her twin brother Mark already
read Stewart Little on the first day of summer. Now it is the last day
of summer and school is starting tomorrow and Moxy still hasn't read
it!
Moxy's mother
tells her she has to read it, or there will be consequences. But
there always seems to be something else to do instead. For example,
Moxy can't read the the book because she has to clean her room.
She has to go to a Daisy water ballet routine show. Her 4
year-old sister Pansy spills lemonade on the book. Her mother's prize
winning dahlias are sucked up by quick sand. Then her dog Mudd
digs up all of her mother's dahlias, and sends them flying through the
air and they land on her mom and Moxy.
In the end, Moxy
finally sits down and reads the book. It has a very funny ending.
I liked this book
because it is funny and has funny real photographs that Mark, Moxy's
brother took, showing what happens in the story.
I would recommend
it for ages 5 and up.
