Atri R., age 7, Cambridge, Massachusetts
"My Amazing Future" Essay Winner, age 7-8 category!

When I grow up, I want to be an artist.  I want to draw like Van Gogh and Monet.  I want to draw like Van Gogh because he draws well.  My favorite Van Gogh drawing is 'Orphan Man in Sunday Clothes with Eye Bandage.'

I drew this picture of it and I am sending it to you:

I also want to draw like Monet because his pictures look real.  I like how he drew his lilies.

I saw in one of my books that Van Gogh bought more paints than he bought food.  I do not want to do that ever.  I might sell the pictures that I draw.  With the money I will give it to the homeless shelters and poor people.

I want to start thinking about my amazing future so I could try being it when the years go by.  I might become a real artist.
My drawings were published in the Boston Herald newspaper and the Boston Sunday Globe newspaper.  I take art lessons at the Museum of Fine Arts.  My teacher's name is Jackie.  It is my dream to be an artist.
