Amazing Kids! is proud to highlight the Amazing Kids! of the Month!

Each month, we showcase kids who are accomplishing amazing things.  We hope that by telling their special stories, we will inspire other kids to accomplish their own amazing achievements. 

These amazing kids have worked hard--and had a lot of fun designing their own web pages. As you'll see, they have created web pages that highlight the things that most interest them.  Check out their amazing websites, and see if you come up with some ideas for an amazing website of your own!  If you already have your own amazing website, let us know about it!  We'll add it to our Amazing Links! page.  Happy surfing!

Alice's Home Page  - 13 year old Alice lives in England.  Her amazing website has stories, poems and pictures created by Alice.  It also tells about her life in England and her vacations to far-away places like Hong Kong and Denmark.  Here's how she introduces herself: 

"My name is Alice Bowen and I live in Sonning, Oxfordshire, England, next to the River Thames. I was born on 8th January 1986. My flower is the carnation. I go to The Abbey School in Reading. Previously I went to Rupert House School, Henley-on-Thames. and the Squirrel School in Oxford. 

I like singing. I sung Part 1 of Handel's Messiah with the village choir on 30th November 1997 and the solo for Once in Royal David's City at Christmas. I also like to play on the computer when I can stop Dad playing! My little sister is called Emma. Mum works in the River and Rowing Museum at Henley. I am a member of OXMUS, the Oxfordfordshire Museums Club for children." 
 

David's Grab Bag Page! - "Welcome to David's Grab Bag Page. My name is David. I am 8 years old. I have just finished the second grade and it is now SUMMER VACATION!!!!! This issue of my page is about summer stuff: butterflies, flowers and maybe a few bugs. And of course there are riddles. Next time it will be different...Have fun!!!"

Here is an amazing section from David's webpage.  It is about a really great idea that one of his teachers used in her class for the first day of school.  If you like it, maybe you'll want to tell your own teacher about it!

Here's what David says about it:

GOOD IDEAS

"Here is a very good idea for a way to start the new school year:

When I came to meet my teacher for second grade this year, she gave each student a little bag. Inside the bag was a cotton ball, a chocolate kiss, a sticker, a rubber band, a penny, a star, a tissue, a toothpick, a band-aid, a piece of gold thread, an eraser and a Life Saver candy. Inside the bag was this note:

"WELCOME!! 

Dear David,
Welcome to your new classroom. The items in this bag have special meanings.
--The cotton ball is to remind you that this room is full of kind words and warm feelings.
--The chocolate kiss is to comfort you when you are feeling sad.
--The sticker is to remind you that we all stick together and help each other. 
--The rubber band is to remind you to hug someone.
--The penny is to remind you that you are valuable and special. 
--The star is to remind you to shine and always try your best. 
--The tissue is to remind you to help dry someone's tears.
--The toothpick is to remind you to "pick out" the good qualities in your classmates and yourself.

Emily's Ark -  Amazing Emily has many talents and interests.  In addition to a gift for art, she loves animals, and has created this educational website to teach other kids about animals.  Here's what she says about it:

"Hi! I'm Emily! I love animals and teaching others about animals. I enjoy drawing (see my coupon at http://couponmonth.com/), riding horses, playing piano, bird watching, and wood carving. I collect rocks (especially fossils), sea shells, moss, bird nests, and horses. Collecting moss sounds strange, but it's very interesting! You'd be surprised how many different kind there are!

Tony's Home Page - Read about the amazing and cool things Tony has done, including being the Good Will Ambassador in San Diego and Imperial Counties, California, for the Muscular Dystrophy Association!

"Hi.  My name is Anthony 'Tony' Montesanto.  I am eleven years old and live in San Diego, CA.  I have a disease called Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy.  Right now, there is no cure for this disease.  I would like to share with other kids and parents a little about myself and how my life with Muscular Dystrophy has affected me and other kids.

I am the 1997/1998 Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for San Diego and Imperial Counties and get to do a lot of neat things, like get to be on the local telethon.  This is the time when volunteers from around the world help to raise money to help find a cure for people like myself.  The folks at San Diego's KUSI TV 9/51 helped MDA all year long and were at the telethon.  They worked so hard, thanks guys!  I got to wear a tuxedo with cartoons of the Tazmanian Devil, my favorite cartoon character.  Maybe that's what I think I am sometimes.  We had a great time and I even got a kiss from Laura Buxton, a newscaster from KUSI!"
