1. Name two amazing things about Nellie Bly.
Two amazing things about Nellie Bly are that she was a famous journalist
and she traveled around the world in 72 days.
2. Why do you think they were amazing?
Her being a journalist was amazing because when she was alive, there
were different expectations of women. Few women had careers outside
of their homes. Not only was Nellie Bly one of the only female reporters,
she was one of the best.
Traveling around the world was amazing because she made a new record.
Her trip also beat the record that the character Phileas Fogg made in Jules
Verne's fictional story, Around the World in Eighty Days.
3. Think about one amazing thing you would
like to do in your life. Describe what it is, and why you want to
do it.
If I could do one amazing thing, I would like to cure different forms
of cancer. I would like to do this because many people suffer from
cancer, including my godfather. Countless lives would benefit from
a cure for cancer, not only the people who have it, but everyone who knows
and loves them.
