Amazing Kids! of the Month for August, 2000:
Amazing Teen Writers & Artists, TeenInk Magazine, Newton, Massachusetts!

A Magazine Written By Teens, for Teens!

Quote of the month:

"I strongly believe teenagers need to be heard, so when I read your magazine, I was very moved. We have been given an opportunity to express our thoughts, feelings and show our talents. It is nice to see that people my age have so much talent and drive.

"Our generation has a voice - and not a negative one."

Teenage Writers, Journalists, Essayists, Photographers and Artists Have Their Say on TeenInk...

According to the TeenInk website, TeenInk is the nation's "most widely read magazine written exclusively by students!"  Each month, teachers in over 4,500 high schools nationwide use it to help encourage reading, writing and critical thinking in their students, as well as help increase their students' self-esteem.

Founded in 1989, TeenInk is in its 12th year of publishing teen writing, art and photos.  Did you know that so far, TeenInk has published over 25,000 student works?  Now that's amazing!

In addition to the TeenInk monthly print magazine, TeenInk also published over12,000 works by teens on its website, TeenInk.com, and is publishing an upcoming book!  TeenInk is published by the Young Authors Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Submissions Accepted!

Because there are no TeenInk staff writers, the magazine depends solely upon teens, ages 13-19, to submit their works for consideration on an ongoing basis.  And the best part of all: it's completely free!  They do not charge any submission or publishing fees!

The good news for teachers is that TeenInk also is available in class sets.  In fact, TeenInk is  currently sent to thousands of high schools and junior highs nationwide. You (teens, teachers, parents, anyone!) can even request a free sample copy at: http://TeenInk.com/Sample/.

OK, Teens!  If you are between the ages of 13-19, send in your writing submissions today!  Check out the TeenInk submission information page at: http://TeenInk.com/Submissions/

A Special Message from Amazing Kids! for all you kids:

It's no secret...every person has an "amazing-ness" inside of them, just waiting to be discovered.  (Sometimes we just need a little help in finding out what that "amazing-ness" is!)

If you are doing some amazing things too, we want to hear about it!  Send us your stories about your amazing accomplishments, so we can tell the world just how amazing you are!  We are always looking for new stories.  And don't be shy!  We'd love to hear from you!

Here's an idea you might want to try:

WHY NOT HELP OTHERS SEE THEIR OWN POTENTIAL?

If you know someone who needs a little encouragement, why not tell them what you think is special about them?  Maybe you can be the one to help them uncover their own special talents!

Amazing Kids! is looking for teens to be Amazing Teen Volunteers and Ambassadors. If you'd like to join Amazing Kids! in helping to spread the word, please email us at:  info@amazing-kids.org.
