Celebrating the Achievements of ChildrenTM

Amazing Kids! Plush Toy Design Contest Winner,
    13-14 age category:
     "Freedom, the Service Dog"
by Laura Beth Collins, age 14; Nova Scotia, Canada

    "Freedom, the Service Dog"

Freedom is a German Shepard who wears a removable orange coat, which reads "service dog" and has a service dog symbol at the bottom of it.  She also wears a harness.

By designing this toy, it may teach children that everyone is equal and to treat people with disabilities the same as you would to anyone else.  It could also help teach about service dogs and how much they change people's lives.  You may even want to help out by donating puppies, money or help someone in need get a dog.

If I were to make and sell this plush stuffed toy, I would donate a percentage of my profits to a Service dog charity.

    Poem:
Freedom changes lives in many ways,
To help fight disabilities and difficult days,
Now people don't see the wheelchair you must ride,
Instead they see a service dog walking at your side.
Materials:  Soft articifical fur, embroidered eyes and nose.  The paws and the inside of its ears are soft chenille.  The coat is made out of soft cloth and the harness is made out of soft canvas.

Color:  Brown with sandy-colored rear paws, eyebrows, cheeks and chest.  A black back muzzle and tail.

Designed for all ages.  If you are giving this toy to a child under three, you would want to take off the removable harness and coat for safety reasons.

Safety:  This toy is 100% safe.  It is free of small pieces that can separate, break off or can be swallowed by children.  It is lightweight, and is free of sharp edges or points.  The materials used are non-toxic.
